If the beds-a-rockin....

There was stunned silence last night when Fuzzy asked if we could head to bed, at eight. I’ve always been the one convincing him to go to bed at reasonable hour, so I was truly shocked.

We have a queen size bed, made of razor wire and cement covered in a pillow top. As you know we’re both pretty big guys, throw a Shar-pei on top and it never makes for a real sound sleep. There is always a three AM throw down. Lately, having drama in his world and issues in my world there’s been enough movement for the dog to stand up in the middle of the night and curse us both out in Chinese.

A king sized bed may soon be necessary. That or the dog may be done with us.

  1. King size bed just means the dog will get more space... I have to fight a skinny man and two dogs for the little space I am allowed on our King Size bed...

  2. You mean this is normal once you become a dog-owner? I've always had cats, and they're a bit easier to move without getting impaled by a paw in the middle of the night. If anything, you don't want to disturb them so you awkwardly slide out from under the covers in which ever direction will disturb them the least.

But with 40+ lb Doogie the border collie mix now sharing our queen sized bed, I TOTALLY know what you're talking about. I'm usually huddled up along one edge of the bed, just trying to keep covers on me, hoping I won't get stabbed or find dog-butt in my face if I wake up.

  3. cal king is the way to go.

and the bf laid down the law initially when we moved in together: no dog on the bed. i think it was just a ploy so he could steal all the covers.

but the dog is mighty happy on his doggie bed and peace is in the valley.

  4. I once shared a king size bed with a former partner of mine. It was the most comfortable thing on the planet! Of course I'm a midget so I only took up one tiny corner of it, even so it was well worth the spend!

  5. That's so sad. Don't you cuddle anymore?

Meh. When we travel we always order king sized beds and at best, hold hands while we sleep.
