What happened to IKEA coming to Denver, Colorado? The only information I can find on the interwebs is the same new items from back in March ‘08.
Remember being excited that IKEA was finally coming to class up this jerk water town? There is no new information other than this. So, still we sits and waits. Can you imagine living without an IKEA? The pain of driving to Provo, UT or Dallas, TX just for fabulous things.
I need answers! I need a new duvet.
They are going through the red tape with the city of Centennial....planning commissions, econ developement, etc. The City's website has posted various minutes from meetings and such. Plus, I understand that construction isn't supposed to start until late 2009 or 2010...
ReplyDeleteOh, the humanity!
ReplyDeleteIKEA is good for housewares and lingonberry jam, but I am not a fan of their furniture (too collegiate for my tastes). And then there was the time my friend Brian and I went to the one in Tempe and I lifted the toilet seat in one of their model bathrooms and discovered someone had pooped in the fake toilet.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Denver didn't have an IKEA. They just opened up a huge store here in Charlotte about six months ago. Before that the nearest one was in either Baltimore or Atlanta.
ReplyDeleteThe last I learned directly from IKEA is 2012 for the store opening. I blog about Colorado IKEA (I think one store will serve the state!) here and will post information updates ... because I can't wait either!!!

Before it arrives and starts ruining lives I should probably warn you about the curse that is IKEA.
ReplyDeleteI used to live just a block away from IKEA in Melbourne. At first it's great fun, you can while away weekends shopping for odds and ends. They have great outdoor candle holders and nifty glassware and such.
After a while you become IKEA though. You eat, sleep and breath IKEA. When an IKEA catalog arrives you flick through it and realise there is nothing you don't already have and morn the discontinued lines "Gee, I'm glad I bough half a dozen of the 'Riksnopp' bookcases - you can't get those anymore!"
IKEA will own you. Don't be so eager to get one in Colorado - leave your state pristine. Did you know the number one reason for divorce in Sweden is disagreements about IKEA items? True fact. You and Fuzzy will need to be unified if you want to outlast the strain that IKEA will place on your relationship!
Don't just say no to IKEA, say no thank you.
You don't need a duvet as much as you need a sniglar to put your knubbig on.
