3am Televison

I don’t really watch TV anymore. I mean besides 70’s Dr. Who and Drag Race, the drag queen one, not the car one. When I’m cleaning the house, or… blogging I have a random episode of Dr. Who playing in the background. Eldrad Must Live. But, actual TV, I have not had the time nor patiences for it in a decade. We, like most people have some streaming apps, and I have rabbit ears to watch The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade yearly. Oh course when it starts I spend most to the time complaining about all the commercials, then go do something in the other room until it’s time to eat.

We do have a new channel we have been watching the last couple of years. It’s the 24/7 drama channel that is constantly playing below our balcony. We live next to a path that has a park at one end with a ice-cream shop, and a coffee shop at the other. This is also a major path for scooter riders going wherever scooter rides go. Amazing things happen with this proximity, at the start of the annual Denver pride parade, the dance bar entry ends up staging their float with its blaring dance beats directly below our tastefully decorated patio. Who needs to go out when Cher’s Believe rattles my classic white Pottery Barn serving set.  Other things are the Whooooo girls. They are a random assembly that walk by loudly chatting about their dramatic lives. There is always a “whooooo girl!” followed by a “Iknowright?!”

Just two mornings ago I was awake at 3am, as you do, drinking coffee, as healthy people do on the balcony in my oversized hooded robe. I could hear a skate board coming closer across the park. When the individual reached the part of the street nearest me I could see it was a long-board powered by a tall male. I knew this because he had stopped to disrobe. I assume he was changing ansamble to meet someone, or maybe a… job interview… at 3am? In the street. His backpack by his feet became the receptacle for casual wear. My eyes squinted as I pondered if the boxer briefs were next. I sipped my coffee. I caught myself wondering it those stains would ever come out of his briefs. He slipped on another tee shirt and equally compelling pair of shorts. And just like that he was gone.

Yep. Who needs television. I have a balcony opening up to the world.
